Popsicle Stick Groundhog Craft [Free Template] (2024)

Groundhog’s Day is a fun day to celebrate when you have kids! To help you do that, we’ve created this popsicle stick groundhog craft to go along with the special day.

It’s a simple craft that incorporates paint, cutting, and gluing and is great for creativity!

Groundhog’s Day Craft For Kids

Supplies

• Popsicle sticks
• Brown paint
• Paintbrush
• Glue dots (permanent) or hot glue
• Cardstock
• Black marker
• Glue stick
• Groundhog template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the groundhog template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.

Cut a popsicle stick into thirds with the scissors. Line up 4 popsicle sticks evenly. Stretch out three glue dots to go onto the back of the cut up popsicle stick. Use this to secure the 4 popsicle sticks together.

Flip the popsicle sticks over and paint it in 1-2 thin coats of brown paint. Let dry completely before moving on.

Glue the groundhog eyes towards the top of the popsicle sticks.

Use the black marker to draw on the groundhog’s nose and mouth, then glue the teeth below the mouth line.

Place the belly below the teeth and glue it in place. Take the arms and glue them on the outside of the popsicle sticks, at the belly line.

Take the brown marker and draw on the inner ears on both of the outer ears.

Glue the ears on the outside and top of the groundhog popsicle stick base.

That’s all there is to it to make this little groundhog!

Template Notes

We have included a free template for you to easily recreate this craft with your kids. Inside the template, we have given you a shape for the inner ears and the nose but we found it easier to use a marker to create them.

Just choose whichever way is easiest for your child!
